The Jewelets 925 Sterling Silver 12x16 mm Pendant Blank features a specially designed flexible oval bezel setting that makes working with natural and slightly non-calibrated stones considerably easier.

Natural gemstones are rarely as dimensionally consistent as manufactured stones. Two cabochons both described as 12x16 mm may have slightly different widths, lengths, curves or edge profiles. In a completely rigid setting, even a small difference can leave an unattractive gap or prevent the stone from fitting properly.

This flexible construction provides greater fitting tolerance and allows the jewelry maker to adapt the frame more closely to the individual gemstone.

FLEXIBLE FRAME – BETTER FIT FOR NATURAL STONES

If your cabochon is slightly smaller than the nominal 12x16 mm setting, the silver frame can be carefully pressed inward around the stone.

This allows the bezel to follow the actual outline of the gemstone more closely and helps conceal small gaps between the stone and setting, producing a cleaner and more professionally finished appearance.

The same flexibility works in the opposite direction.

For a stone that is slightly larger than 12x16 mm, the flexible frame provides limited additional tolerance. Depending on the stone's thickness, curvature and edge profile, a difference of approximately +0.2 mm may be accommodated.

This is particularly useful when working with natural, artisan-cut, vintage or individually polished stones that are attractive but not perfectly calibrated.

IMPORTANT FIT INFORMATION

The 12x16 mm measurement is the nominal setting size. The flexible construction provides additional tolerance, but it should not be interpreted as unlimited adjustability.

A substantially oversized, unusually thick, strongly asymmetrical, or incorrectly shaped stone may still not fit.

Make adjustments gradually and evenly around the gemstone. Avoid aggressive bending or repeatedly reshaping the silver frame, as excessive manipulation can distort or weaken the setting.
