This mounting is suitable for calibrated 6×8 mm oval faceted gemstones, including moissanite, sapphire, ruby, emerald, amethyst, garnet, citrine, topaz, cubic zirconia, and other precious or semi-precious stones.

A cabochon may also be set in this mounting. For the best fit, the cabochon should be approximately 0.1 mm smaller than the nominal setting size, or about 5.9×7.9 mm for this 6×8 mm mounting. Low-profile and rose-cut cabochons are recommended because tall or deeply domed stones may not fit securely beneath the prongs.

This unfinished ring mounting is intended for professional jewelers and experienced jewelry makers. Stone dimensions alone do not guarantee a proper fit. The gemstone’s depth, girdle thickness, pavilion angle, dome height, and overall proportions must also be considered before setting.

Attempting to use an oversized or incorrectly proportioned stone may deform or break the prongs, loosen the side CZ stones, and permanently damage the mounting.
